The Southern New Mexico Suicide Prevention and Survivor Support Coalition

The Southern New Mexico Suicide Prevention and Survivor Support Coalition first met in Las Cruces in November 2011 as a joint effort of Memorial Medical Center and New Mexico State University, under the leadership impetus of Bruce San Filippo, MD, Rev. Margaret Short, DMin, and Satya Rao, PhD.  The informal coalition quickly expanded to include many community leaders and organizations, among which were

  • The Las Cruces Police Dept. officer for mental health
  • The Mobile Crisis Unit, Southwest Counseling Center
  • The WAVE Program (Wellness, Alcohol and Violence Education Program
  • La Pinon Sexual Assault & Rape Crisis Center
